Takumi Precision, in association with the PTMA – Irish Precision Turned Parts Manufacturing Association, has donated a table-top CNC machine to CBS Sexton Street, Limerick. Takumi founder, Gerry Reynolds, is at the forefront of this initiative and is encouraging others in the industry to follow suit in this unique strategy to encourage students to get involved in precision engineering.

Speaking at the launch Minister Niall Collins commended the collaboration between industry and school “This fabulous collaboration is bringing the work-place in to the school, and it is giving the students a taste for engineering, which is really important. I would say to students that university isn’t for everybody and to look at the apprenticeship options, and the learn as you earn options. This type of collaboration between industry and education needs to be rolled out more across the country.”
