The Emerald Aero Group met with Minister of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, Peter Burke.
The discussion centered around the opportunity that exists for Ireland to attract a Tier 1 aircraft manufacturer to the country. Emerald Aero Group delegates outlined the capability of the aerospace manufacturing sector in Ireland within our cluster, and beyond, which continue to grow exports and the potential for its consideration and promotion of Ireland as a destination for these Tier 1’ supply chain.
The meeting comes in the wake of the Paris Airshow, where we saw Airbus’ landmark haul of 228 aircraft, ramping up their production to meet demand, with our MRO firms standing to benefit from increased aftermarket needs; including Airbus acquiring Spirit Aero systems in Belfast, ensuring continued A220 wing production and securing thousands of manufacturing jobs in the meantime. This presenting a major opportunity for our advanced supply chain – covering composites, avionics, and precision components across the cluster and beyond.
The Emerald Aero Group, supported by Enterprise Ireland, look forward to continued communication with the Minister, and his Department, on the opportunities presented in aerospace.
