Minister of State at the Department of Transport, James Lawless, recently announced the high-level outcomes of the Mid-term Review of the Regional Airports Programme.
Outcomes:
Development of a new Regional State Airports Sustainability Programme with a capital budget of €4.225 million to support the sustainability plans of Cork and Shannon airports.
Expansion of the scope of sustainability projects funded under the Regional Airports Programme 2021-2025 to include initiatives related to the production of electricity from renewable sources, such as Solar PV farms.
The mid-term review also considered expanding the Programme’s scope to regional airports handling more than one million passengers annually.
Minister Lawless stated, “This Programme, with a budget of approximately €4 million, mirrors the sustainability objectives of the Regional Airports Programme by supporting capital investment at Shannon and Cork airports.”
